The Green Bird – October 2022
My initial idea for for my A-level course was still-life animals and for this piece I wanted to experiment with biro and colour. I like the detailing I have achieved here and the shading of the green.
Brown and White House – December 2022
Whilst researching artists for my architecture project, I came across Phil Dean and linked this piece to his style using biro and white marker pen. I think the contrast works very well here.
Dark Room – May 2023
I wanted to experience the dark room, so I took some of my photographs and processed them – I really enjoyed this and was happy with the outcome.
Sheep Shed – June 2023
I wanted to compare the biro technique with other mediums and experimented with acrylic paint and watercolour – the look of acrylic is amazing, but this is a challenging product to use and the softer-looking watercolour was easier to blend.
Image Transfers – October 2023
I had been experimenting with 'layering' and tried image transfers as a different method of achieving this. It was an interesting process, but the overall outcome was disappointing as it did not convey the look I wanted.
Digital Printing – November 2023
To broaden my skills, I used digital printing to learn this more contemporary method. I enjoyed the process and the look of the pieces I created.
Screen Printing – December 2023
This was a new skill and a new technique which worked very well for me and created an image as I saw it in my head. I was delighted with the results
Pastels – February 2024
Relating my topic of 'Shadows' to a new medium 'pastels', this was a sound product to use to create the 'blurry' effect that I wanted.
My Own Technique – February 2024
Here I have used MDF circles to create 2D and 3D images, finished with acrylic paint similar to the style of Adam Pizuny. The results are an interesting look but if I was to do this again, I would use the wooden circles to create a shadow.
